The 4th

Today is the 4th of July.
We had a great day and evening out at the farm with Beth and her whole family. It was nice and relaxing, and great to be around a big, loving family. Something we miss, being down here in SC without ours. (Although, that is nice too).
The kids totally freaked out when the guys started lighting off the fireworks. They were okay with the first three that didn't pop, but then the bang and it was a symphony of screams.

Oh well. Fireworks are cool, but we were fine with giving it up. Then we were so thankful we didn't try to battle crowds and wait hours for the big ones, only to have screaming babies and having to flee for their sanity.

I wouldn't even celebrate the 4th, except that it is a good excuse to get together with friends and loved ones. I should just boycott the whole thing. Honoring war-mongering and stealing land from the native americans is not what I call a good reason to celebrate. Especially since some of my ancestors were native american, although my grandpa was also in WWII, go figure. It's not that I don't have respect for those who lived through it, and survived such a tragedy, it is just that it is such a negative thing to celebrate. Hopefully they will all learn in their future lives that war is not the answer, only love is real.

On another note, we are going to get our "Rogy" back tomorrow! I am so excited! I have missed him like crazy! It definitely got easier as the week progressed, but we also kept ourselves super-busy. It was easier to only have two kids, one for each of us to handle, but we like the insanity of three. It makes life fuller, more laughter, more stress, but more fun all around. It keeps us on our toes constantly being the parents of three. They are all so unique and wonderful. Laila and Grant sure missed his presence around here. Grant woke up yesterday whining and pointing to his picture on the wall. He has been super-clingy this week too. Laila has had her moments of tears, and has been soooo moody this week. First she was angry with him, then jealous, then just sad and missing him. Rogan will definitely get lots of attention tomorrow!

Well, long trip ahead, and sleep is calling my name!
