Planting Seeds

This is the first year that I have had my own garden, and I am LOVING it! It is so much fun to plant a seed and watch it grow into a beautiful, bountiful, food-producing plant. My garden is thriving right now. I am getting cucumbers, green beans, Kale and chard, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs. We went and planted a garden out at Beth's place too with her family and another couple we are both friends with. With 6 adults, the work was quick, and now that garden is growing strong. We won't get anything until the fall there, but we will have a lot of vining plants, like watermelon, yum! And our very own pumpkin patch for the kids!

Yesterday when I was sitting outside, I found a surprise. Volunteers as we call them, which are very fun, because we don't know what they will be until they grow. They are seeds dropped by us, or birds, or mixed into the compost we amended the garden with. I currently have 6 volunteers in my garden which are some kind of vined plants. I am thinking one is yellow squash, and the rest are watermelon. But the surprise I found yesterday, was not in my garden, they were in my gravel driveway! Six watermelon plants growing in my driveway where we spit out seeds from our last meal out there! We will see if they make it. I might just have a watermelon patch in the middle of my driveway!

Then there are the metaphorical seeds we have been planting lately. Back in May, Doug found our answer to our attraction of more success in the practice, a business partner. While nothing "big" has happened yet, the seeds are being sown. We all recently decided that it would be a fabulous idea to open up a practice in downtown Greenville. We found a perfect spot down there. Right next to a courtyard, in the heart of the city, where all the action and events take place. It even has good karma attached to it, as the last business was this cool hippie shop that moved down to the next street. The layout inside wouldn't even need to be changed much. I see HUGE plants in the future with this space. Comparable to DiMartini, if you know who he is! I am going to focus my energy into seeing this plant take root!
