What a Day!

Beth and I went to the Dupont forest yesterday with the horses, for our "Mommy Meeting." It was awesome! What a dream come true!
We started out in the morning, had some troubles with the lights on the trailer. Well, actually Beth's ferrier who wired it, wired it an inch too short to plug in to the truck. So, after some brainstorming on Beth's part, we ended up at AutoZone with a useless employee giving us no-good advice. Then I was going to follow, but had to make a quick trip to the gas station bathroom. In the meantime, Beth had a brilliant idea, and went and asked for some tools, and came back with Smiley. Smiley was this sweet little southern man, that you couldn't understand a lick of what he was saying. He crawled under the truck, and worked for about 30 minutes fixing our problem. Then got up, mumbled something, wouldn't take any sort of pay, and we went on our way together.
Thanks Smiley!
We arrived, started getting the horses ready, and some other friendly southern man (who was a tad on the creepy side) pulled up next to us and talked our ear off. Inviting us to join him and his MIA friends who were yet to arrive. We declined in the nicest way possible. Then headed out on the trails hoping he wouldn't catch up.
It was so beautiful. First a beautiful pond where we could easily walk to with our kids and have a nice lunch. Then a place to tie the horses and see the first waterfall. We ate lunch sitting on the rocks and loving it.
Then out through the woods, and a steady climb. We rounded the corner, and there was a covered bridge set over the top of another waterfall. We let the horses drink and eat a bit. Then some tourists were on the bridge wanting to pet the horses who were freaking out being on the bridge. We let them though, and let them get a picture. Then onto the other side of the fall so we could see it in its full glory.
The third fall was next and we stopped and chatted with a couple visiting from Atlanta. The woman talked my ear off about her Chiropractor, but she was really friendly.
Then a slippery slope and rocky trail zigagging down. It was a little nerve-racking, but the horses performed awesome! Yay, Nigel and Pip!
Then under a bridge and then we crossed a stream, where these little dogs were freaking out on the other side. This last trail to the falls is where we were the stars. Everyone hiking and walking to the falls were saying "Wow! Horses!" Smiling and wanting to pet our worn out horses.
Towards the end a group of loud boys came around the corner, and saw the horses, one tried to touch as we went past and Pip skirted him like he had cooties. It was pretty funny. The boys laughed too!
Then the tired track back to the car. All four of us were worn out. My butt is so sore today! A good reminder of our awesome day!
I can't wait to do this again!
